I know there are a lot of GUI applications available now to Write CDs, Rip MP3s, Make ISOs etc etc. But still, there is a lot of people who like to do things in command line. Check the below link for a set of commands which could be found in any normal linux system and how to use them to manipulate CDs.

Adios Jack !

Jack St. Clair Kilby passed away June 20, 2005, in Dallas following a brief battle with cancer.

He was one of those few men who could look around and say “I changed this world” !.

For those who don’t know who is Jack Kilby – He is the inventor of the IC ( Integrated Circuit ) which is an essetnial part in all the electronic devices today. Without his invetntion the human race could not have evolved this way. We can’t even think about radio, tv , computers …. without ICs. His invention made technology to leap huge distances forward. It made electronic devices smaller and cheaper. The interesting part is that he achieved this during a vacation and when his company was facing a lock-out!.

Good Bye Jack… You sure will be remembered in our hearts.

Want to read more about him and the story of how he invented the IC?

How to do a network installation of RedHat Linux

Some times I become so upset in the fact that RedHat Linux comes in 3 or more CDs. I have to take all the CDs to the PC where I am going to install it. Sometimes if the CD gets corrupted, you will end up with a totally ruined system!. So I started my R&D on it and found a very cool way to install RedHat Linux over the network. It proved to be very convienient and a great time saver !

I thought I should share this with my techie friends out there…
