Words can KILL….

The Mid-day website reports :
“At least 22 people died and more than 40 were injured in stampedes at Nehru Nagar in Vile Parle, and Nirmal Nagar in Bandra (East) after rumours last night that a tsunami had hit Juhu beach. The tragedy happened at about 9.30 pm in Nehru Nagar. Panic was reported in Nirmal Nagar at 11 pm. Among the victims were 12 children and two women.”

Police reached the spot later and announcements were made over loudspeakers squashing the rumours. ‘‘We suspect a few robbers spread the rumours,’’ Police Commissioner A N Roy said last night. ‘‘We will dispatch a team to the area and unearth the real reason for the stampede.’’ More..

I don’t know who is behind spreading rumours like this. They should be sentenced to hang till death. They are killing people. They are responsible for all those lives. May be it’s robbers, may be someone started it for fun ( Just like chain/hoax mails). If robbers did it, it’s bad. If the reason is latter, it’s worse. It’s not at all a good thing that someone should do in such occations. I saw a lot of people calling their friends and describing the situation with a lot of bells and whistles. Why to bloat if something bad is happening aroud you? .Or is it the new fashion in our society to bloat about anything? . It makes me doubtful that if we are going back in evolution. Are we so ignorant about other people’s lives?

I beg such people to keep quite if you don’t know about what exactly is happening….. Please do not spread rumours. Remember, Your words can KILL people..

Stray Thoughts..

I am going through mixed emotions these days.. In one hand, I am happy to be in my new home.. listening to my favourite semi-old malayalam songs, sleeping as much as I want..

But I am starting to feel the home sickness after a long time.. I did not know why. Later I found the simple reason behind it. Food !!!!. It was the absence of “kerala style” food that was making me uncomfortable here. I went to my brother’s home last weekend and ate a lot. I filled my stomach as well as mind. Now I feel better. I think I have to find some good restaurants or I will start cooking at home!. 🙂

Work is okay. I am gradually progressing in my Unix Self Training. It’s very difficult to learn something if you don’t have someone to guide. And I hate reading technical manuals…

Apart from these.. life is beautiful 🙂

My Sister ( Yamuna ) called me last week and told that they would be visiting mumbai on “onam holidays”. So this year, I am going to “celebrate” onam in mumbai. Usually, I do not celebrate onam in Mumbai. My onam celebrations were limited to a complete veg meal in some “kerala style” restaurant and a new shirt or jeans. I remember, sometimes I was not able to achieve that too. This year I am determined to change it. My family is joining me here to celebrate it and I am sure I am gonna enjoy this onam ! 🙂

My New Home !

I shifted to a flat near my office saturday. It’s a neat appartment in the second floor. The best thing is that the place is not crowded as you will find it in most areas of mumbai. I actually woke up today morning listenting to chirping of birds. And it took me sometime to realise that I am still in mumbai… I really thought I was waking up at my home in Kerala. That felt really awesome !

I have a room-mate who is the Workplace Resouce Admin of my office. Biswa Narayan Mohanty (Pintu) , from Orissa. I was in touch with him from Day ONE in the office and it was a pleasant surprise to find out that he was also in search of a flat. Now we have all the minimum requirements in the room. Biswa has everything like TV, Phone (WLL), Kitchenware at his old home. We are planning to move all of them to our place in a while.

We found some nice restaurents nearby and there is a good market within 10 mins walk from home. I am going to miss the food prepared by Sindhu Chechy. I am sure I will be visiting my Brother frequently for that reason! 🙂 Only thing that drags me a bit is that I don’t have an internet connection at home 🙁

Anyway, I am working on it…. 🙂
